A romantic Stanley Park Teahouse Wedding in the heart of the city

One of the things I love about working in the wedding industry is getting to see and explore different wedding venues! Whether it’s big or small, opulent or rustic, there’s always a certain level of excitement that comes with capturing the surrounding where two souls are bound together in love and marriage.

Each wedding venue has its own character, and it also tells a lot about the bride and groom’s personality. If you have a theme in mind for your wedding, choosing the right venue will make your theme pop out and everything else easier.

Let’s say, you’ve decided on a vintage-themed wedding. Even if you love the beach, you can’t say your vows on sand and mix old typewriters with seashells. Well you can, but it will be confusing to your guests and probably even the local marine life. A visibly cohesive wedding theme is built around the wedding venue and its décor. So once you choose the appropriate venue that matches your theme, you’ll be ready to plan the rest.

For Michelle and Rooshan, their pick was the charming and cozy Teahouse Restaurant in Vancouver’s famous Stanley Park. Often used for weddings or corporate events, it’s an amazing location that combines the verdant trees of the park and the calming view of the waters of English Bay.

Michelle and Rooshan’s wedding ceremony was held in the garden right in front of the Teahouse. Though the haze from the forest fires at that time shrouded the bay and the mountains, the couple was blessed with golden sunshine all day. As a photographer, it was definitely a dream shoot for me! At one point, Michelle’s cascading brown locks caught the sun’s rays and made her glow in absolute beauty!

After the meaningful and symbolic ceremony, the couple then proceeded to the cocktail hour and reception inside the Teahouse, where guests toasted to their brand new life as husband and wife.

It was an intimate wedding and the venue was ideal for the number of guests, who were composed of the couple’s family and friends. The wedding preparations were held in the Fairmont Pacific Rim, which is a 10-15 minute drive to the Teahouse. Here are photos of that memorable event, from the bridal preparations, to the time everyone danced the night away.
